COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive lung condition that makes breathing difficult due to airflow obstruction. It includes diseases like chronic bronchitis and emphysema, which damage the airways and air sacs in the lungs. Smoking is the leading cause of COPD, but long-term exposure to air pollution, chemical fumes, and dust can also contribute to its development. Symptoms often include persistent cough, mucus production, shortness of breath, wheezing, and fatigue. As the disease progresses, daily activities such as walking or climbing stairs can become increasingly challenging.

While COPD has no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Medications such as bronchodilators and corticosteroids help open airways and reduce inflammation.
